Bluestem Vision Concepts

We are excited to announce a transition to our new vision therapy practice---Bluestem Vision Concepts (BVC). We have discussed this for the past few years and feel that with the new clinic building the time is right to further enhance our vision therapy program.

Our approach to vision therapy will follow the same basic philosophies, but we want to enhance our patients' successes by encouraging office based vision therapy rather than strictly home based. Statistics show that office based vision therapy achieves better results than home based vision therapy.

What can you expect from an office based VT program? There are several advantages:

* One-on-one time with a vision therapist.
* Instrumentation that is not available for home therapy.
* Typically a quicker and broader based therapy, which brings better recovery.
     - For academic concerns, office VT is approximately 5-6 months.
     -For amblyopia, office VT is approximately 7-9 months.
     -For strabismus, office VT is approximately 8-12 months.
* A greater diversity of therapy protocols:
     -Basic motor skills*
     -Eye-hand coordination
     -Eye movement
     -Focusing
     -Convergence
     -Fusion
* Visual-perception skills:
     -Figure-ground*
     -Visual memory
     -Visual closure*
     -Spatial relations*
     -Directionality-laterality
     -Visual orientation*

*Procedures typically not done with home based VT. With all areas of VT there are more procedures available with office VT than with home VT---more diversity and more intensity. It is this intensity and structure that typically allows for faster and more complete visual improvement. Simply put--a better quality program.
